Super Bloom 2026

Update 3/13/2026 - It has been an unusual year for precipitation this season.  After early season heavy rain we had a dry warm period with very little additional rain - but  had some beautiful and warm weather!  Things greened up and many plants started to bloom early.  Some plants even went to seed and started to dry out.  I have seen quite a lot of flowers early this year!  The daisy like flower Encelia californica - California coast sunflower - California bush sunflower has been especially nice along the California Coast.

I have an update video of the current wildflower bloom with recent pictures 3/12/26 from the Southern California Coastal region - click here to watch!  (the place description and date each video clip or picture was taken is in the video description with timestamp)

Around 2/18/2026 California just got some additional heavy precipitation!  Then California got some very warm weather in the low 80s along the coast and even the 90s inland.  Flowers have been very nice along the coast, but it was too warm for me to go inland and look there - it has cooled off a bit now - flowers are definitely blooming many places!   3/12/2026: It got very warm again - record highs inland.  03/17/2026 - record highs today - there are some nice places to see wildflowers nearer the coast where it is cooler!

Where and  when flowers bloom varies from year to year.  The bloom depends on the amount of rain and other factors and progresses from warmer lower elevation places to cooler higher elevation places.

I'll be updating this blog with pictures and video as I hike around looking for flowers - I'll also share some information about places to see flowers.
